You Can Now Pre-Order Tesla’s Solar Roofs

The Green Gentleman.

Tesla were meant to start taking orders for their new Solar Roofs in  April, but this promise went unfulfilled. However, you no longer have to wait, as of today you can pre-order Tesla’s stealthy solar powers cells in textured or smooth variants ahead of the first US installation in the summer. Everyone else outside the US will have to wait until 2018.

Tesla is offering a cost calculator to figure out the real world costs, so you won’t be surprised by a large bill.  The price will depend on the size of your roof, the company estimates that the typical buyer will be paying $21.85 per square foot instead of $24.50 for  a regular roof. Tesla price calculator will take into account, your local electricity prices, roof size, and even the regional sunlight levels where you live to calculate the cost of the roof and also how much energy you can likely expect to generate. This will allow those sceptical of the service to get some assurance they will actually be able to afford the Solar Roof  and whether users will actually be able to generate electricity.

Also, did we forget to mention the roof will have infinity warranty, even if you don’t believe in this technology Elon Musk does.  Tesla has also stated on their website that the solar roofs can be used alongside other energy solution, this includes their Powerwall batteries.  “With an integrated Powerwall battery, energy collected during the day is stored and made available any time, effectively turning your home into a personal utility.”

If you are still no convinced yet, watch he GIF below, Tesla’s solar roof is on the left and traditional roofs on the right. According to Tesla this is the highest FM 4473 hail rating and Tesla claim they recorded this at a staggering 2,500 frames per second.

Whatever you decide, this is definitely one of Tesla’s grander experiments. Tesla continue to provide game-changing technology. Maybe they should Steven Hawking with his plan to leave earth in the next 100 years.
