Brexit Was Responsible For A Staggering 1.6 Million Relationships Ending.

That’s A Lot Of Leavers.

It’s been a year since the Brexit vote rocked Britain, in that year many have come to terms with the election, but others are still ignoring democracy and  sharing petitions to have another referendum.

Research conducted by ICM has shown a staggering 1.6 million relationships broke down thanks to Brexit, and a further 2.7 million were close to ending because of opposing political views.

Romain Bertrand, the UK Country Manager for eHarmony, said: “People were forced to confront issues they might otherwise have avoided regarding political perspectives –it’s unfortunate but not altogether surprising therefore that 1.6m UK relationships either ended or failed to progress beyond the initial dating stage due to the vote.”

Whatever your views on Brexit, one positive is that it’s a great way to find your next relationship. It has been revealed that people who included  whether they are a ‘remainer’ or ‘brexiter’ in their profile bio had more messages than the average user – with men this number skyrocketed to 90%. Don’t worry, we don’t know why people shoehorn their political allegiances into their social media bio’s  or dating profiles either

Brexit even inspired some tech savvy entrepreneurs to develop a dating app based on the result.  Cue Remainder, dubbed for the 48% who voted to remain “what better way to recover than hooking up with someone who shares your sense of existential dread?”.

Lets face it, if you are willing to end a relationship with your significant other over a simple political disagreement don’t!

Why? You are both immature and as right-wing commentators would say ‘snowflakes’, so really you are perfect for each other.
