The Iron Throne We See On GOT Is A Fake.

The True Iron Throne.

Game of Thrones revolves around the Iron throne, all the main characters are waging war just so they can sit on of the most uncomfortable chairs ever made.

However, the Iron throne we are so used to seeing on the show is a fake, well not fake but, it does not resemble the description of the throne in the books.

The throne is reserved for the King of Andals and the First Men, The throne was allegedly forged from the 1,000 swords that had been surrendered to Aegon in the War of Conquest by the lords who had offered their fealty, though the actual number of the swords is less than two hundred. Thank Littlefinger for counting.

Mark Simonetti’s artwork depicting the Iron Throne, singled out by Martin as closely representing the imposing size and appearance of the throne in the books.

According to G. R. Martin if the throne we see on TV was to be the same size as the description given in the books, it would be impossible to film any scene which involves the throne.

The Iron Throne in the books towers over forty feet in height, the actual chair-part where the king sits is located over twenty feet off of the ground, and needs to be reached by an entire flight of stairs.

The Iron Throne is so large that it is physically impossible to move it, the Red Keep and throne room had to be built around it.

The seven-episode seventh season will launch July 16.
