America. The land of the free, a place you can enter as an immigrant and leave as a billionaire. Dreams really do come true in the (good ol‘) U.S. of A, you can do anything your imagination can dream up, even inventing a food that already exists and giving it a new name.
US supermarket Trader Joe’s has just released the puff dog , which they say is “a twist on the classic dog-meets-dough pairing of the hot dog” and “instead swaddled in a perfectly flaky-when-cooked puff pastry”.
This would be a marvelous new invention if it wasn’t a sausage roll with a different name, the sausage roll has been enjoyed in the UK and Australia for over a century.
On its website, Trader Joe’s said the “puff dog” has been released just in time for hot dog season and “this marriage of beefy and buttery is pretty genius”.
Yes Trader Joe British people know the idea is pretty genius that’s why they have been mainstay snack for so long, even writing this I just remembered I had a sausage roll (pardon me puff dog) yesterday.
The British public are not amused the America is trying to take another one of our beloved creations and ruining it, The Inbetweeners and Faulty Towers spring to mind.
On twitter you can find the furious reactions…

US media reviewing the puff dogs have dubbed them “your go-to summer appetiser” and “a snack you need this month”.
Thanks America we don’t know how we would’ve come up with this idea on our own.
