The bi-annual D23 Expo took place this weekend in Anaheim, Calif.
At the expo Disney finally announced the actors who have been cast in the three major leads for the forthcoming live-action Aladdin remake.
According to Variety, director Guy Ritchie and producers have chosen Will Smith to play the role of the genie Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and rising star Mena Massoud to appear as Aladdin.
The selection process took a while as the director and producers pondered over who would take the lead roles.
“Aladdin” was the highest-grossing film of the year in 1992, and won Academy Awards for best score and best song for “A Whole New World.”
