‘I’m not a businessman, I’m a business…man’
These words Jay-Z rapped on Diamonds from Sierra Leone are ringing true today. The rap mogul, has a reported net worth of $810 million (£610 million), which has been accrued by investing in a number of companies, most recently TIDAL.
The rumor mills have been running overtime, as it has been reported that, Jay-Z is looking to purchase Harvey Weinstein’s 23 percent stake in The Weinstein Company. This comes after a number of notable actresses such as Angelina Jolie have accused Weinstein of sexual assault.
Weinstein and Jay are not strangers, the two had a professional relationship with TWC and Harvey, after the pair began producing a documentary, The Kalief Browder Story, as well as a future miniseries about Trayvon Martin, the teenager who was killed by neighbourhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in 2012.
According to TMZ, Jay-Z would purchase the stake as part of a syndicate with a billionaire and a famous movie producer. So far Jay-Z’s camp has not released any statements to address the situation.
