Instagram stories are a 15 second reminder to everyone you that “Hey, I’m still alive everybody! And guess what? I’m eating pasta”
As mundane and boring as stories are, we can’t stop watching or making them. The concept is perfect for Instagram and Facebook who are trying to keep you on their apps for the longest amount of time so they can show you a lot of ads.
However, Netflix has probably become the first company to utilise this feature for a good reason. The streaming giants have just implemented 30-second previews that will give users a teaser of their newest series and films.‘Netflix Previews’ has been available on the company’s TV-based apps since last year, but has just been added to the iOS app too.
We don’t know yet when this update will come to android but we imagine it won’t be a long wait.
In a media release on Thursday the firm said: “The previews are shown like a slideshow, so if you see something you like, you can tap play or add to your list. If not, you can swipe or tap the screen to advance to the next preview.”
Cameron Johnson, Director of Product Innovation, added: “Mobile previews load very quickly, are personalised to your specific tastes, and are easy to use. We hope you like using this new feature and that mobile previews help you find your next favourite show!”
